I confirm the bug on my HP dv6220eu.
Pull down menus (gnome-menu) and most of the keyboard are dead after pressing the hardware touchpad disable button.
The only workaround to re-enable keyboard and menus is to kill gnome-settings-daemon, then start it again.
The nautilus should be also restarted to look fine after using this trick.
