I have the same problem on my dv6-1388. I use my DV6 at work and home. At work i don't use WiFi and the touchpad seems to work better then when I get home and start using WiFi. ubuntu 10.04 32bit

I can enable / disable without loosing my keyboard buy following the #13 reference link link in this thread and then look @ #34
sudo modprobe -r mouse
sudo modprobe -r psmouse
