Our enemies has this ridiculously easy slide bar that somehow works near perfectly.

X really should have a distro-unified interface (GTK and Text) with a tab for each device it controls. Video card, Monitors (yeah all of your monitors, not just one), mouse, keyboard, etc...

Failing that, I would settle for a box that said: "Punch in the resolution you'd like to see"

I've installed Hardy on probably 8 different kinds of computers and autoconfig hits the mark on about half of them.
