I use a Fujitsu-Seimens Amilo A1650g.

I Added the following to the xorg.conf that was generated on installation.

Section "ServerLayout"
 Identifier "Default Layout"
 Screen 0 "Default Screen" 0 0
 InputDevice "Generic Keyboard"
 InputDevice "Configured Mouse"
 InputDevice "Synaptics Touchpad"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
 Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad"
 Driver "synaptics"
 Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
 Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
 Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
 Option "SHMConfig" "on"
EndSection

maybe those sections need to be added to 'dexconf' so it will autogenerate them.

PS. once SHMConfig was set to on, the Touchpad tab was added to the mouse configuration window with the options to set horiz,vert scrolling and tap to click. so it is pointless to add 'Option "HorizEdgeScroll" "0"'.
