Hi guys,

I see this is more than one year old issue and affects very few people, but unfortunately including me. I am Ubuntu user more than one year and one week later after upgrade to 11.04 I decided to switch to Xubuntu. I like Xubuntu, it's lighter and quicker. But, there is a bug, that is really annoying and it's actually this bug.

First time it happend was very next day I installed Xubuntu. I played with settings a lot that day installed various themes and programmes so I thougt I messed something up. It was a fresh install so after few reboots and attempts to fix it I reinstalled Xubuntu and everything was fine. Then I decided not to mess up with themes anymore I chose default theme and configured couple of keyboard shortcuts and thats it.

But today, one week later it happend again. And here are symptoms:

1. No border around windows (no maximize, minimize, close buttons)
2. No background image
3. I usually use 9 workspaces it reduced my workspaces to 1
4. I tried terminal, it loaded but I couldn't write anything to it
5. First time I lost mouse pointer ( just did not see it, clicking worked fine ), but today pointer was ok.

I found this bug report and tried to run xfwm4 manually and it fixed window borders and terminal. After reboot my background came back, only I had to manually set up number of workspaces.

I was thinking, my friend also switched to Xubuntu and has almost the same configuration as me. But it did not happen to him. Maybe it's driver issue, I don't know.
My graphic card uses NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 173). (173.14.30)
Now I see there is new recommended version of the driver so I switch to it.

One strange thing i noticed when this happend to me. Both times I had problem to shut down Xubuntu. I pressed shut down button, but didn't react for more than 30 seconds. So I tried to shut down again and than it started shutting down sequence. Next time I turned on computer windows were messed up.

Let me know what kind of information do you need. I'll let know when it happens again.
