No, he can't get the output, because the system is completely unresponsive. I tried to redirect terminal output to a file, but the file was empty. I did, however, take a very good picture of the screen, and can send you an image if it will help.
There are several error messages, including:
(webbrowser-app:2541): dconf-CRITICAL **: unable to create file '/run/user/1000/dconf: Permission denied. dconf will not work properly.
libGL errors
MESA-LOADER: failed to retrieve device information
Version 4 or later of flush extension not found
failed to load driver: i915
There are many other errors--too many to type unless I'm certain it will help.
I have the identical symptoms as in comment 13. System is similar except I have Inspiron with i5 processor. Same Intel graphics. I am running Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit.
The system draws the frame for the window, but the app does not draw its own space.
