I've just installed Ubuntu Gutsy on a Thinkpad X41 tablet and the pen works fine after a suspend/resume or a hibernate/resume cycle. Has the IBM problem (whatever it was) been fixed in Gutsy?

(The Toshiba M200 still, as of 12/3/07, exhibits the symptoms I posted above...)
