Fresh install of Edgy.

whether I use vi file or sudo vi file I can write correctly as long as I don't touch the 4 arrow keys.

If I hit the arrow keys (e.g. to change line/character where I want to put the cursor, as I did in Dapper) it produces now capitals letters as follows:

left arrow prints D (on a new line)
right arrow prints C (on a new line)
upper arrow prints A (on a new line)
down arrow prints B (on a new line)

To be able to move the cursor, I need to ESC first.

In pure console mode (ctrl alt f1) it doesn't print A B C D but still doesn't work as in Dapper.

In both cases (gnome-terminal r console mode), clicking on i to initiate the edit mode doesn't give any indication at the bottom of the screen ( -- INSERT -- )
