Sorry I meant 'dist-upgrade'. I've been playing with debian a little bit lately, apt-get can be used to upgrade in debian. However Ubuntu prefers using 'do-release-upgrade -d'.

As for the original question which I didn't read closely enough you are right there is no information in either man page about setting the 'Propmt' var to change the upgrade cycle from LTS to the next general release. My apologies Aapo. I will mark the bug as confirmed as there is no information in the man pages about this.
