I'm getting this issue on 14.04. However, enabling Unity via ccsm doesn't work. Thank goodness my backup program is a .sh file I can run from a terminal, or I'd have lost days of work.

Seriously disappointed that such a horrific bug can make it into the OS, and seriously pissed off that I'm having to reinstall my OS the evening before getting off a plane.
