Got this error while installing Mint Maya 13 XFCE 32bit from live DVD. Problem solved when I created a bootable USB with Image Writer application, and removing slideshow with apt-get in terminal.
In my case, the error occurs at exactly the point where the slideshow in the installer starts, after user setup.
