Oneiric ubiquity has translations loading problem, and other l10n problems met after installation

Some strings has been translated, but still not loaded at installation process if you select "中文 (繁體)" as your language before going to the installer.

For example, in the Chinese (Traditional) language installation, "has at least {SIZE} available drive space", the whole content in In "Installation type" section, and "Erase disk and install Ubuntu" are not showed in translated ones.

See attachments to know further about the situation.

After insatallation, major l10n problems met:
1. Chinese characters are not showed properly in some programs, for example, date and time indicater:

2. The string of authentication from jockey shows as "[Invalid UTF-8]"

3. Sans font uses WenQuanYi Zen Hei instead of WenQuanYi Micro Hei which should be the first selected font via /etc/fonts/conf.d/69-language-selector-zh-tw.conf . This file is not available in the folder.

Note: the content of /etc/default/locale is
LANG="zh_TW"
LANGUAGE="zh_TW.UTF-8"
LC_CTYPE="zh_TW.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="zh_TW.UTF-8"

However, if you use English by default and later select "中文 (繁體)" as your language instead of English in the first screen of the installer, you will see the interface showing full translations. "has at least {SIZE} available drive space", the whole content in In "Installation type" section, and "Erase disk and install Ubuntu" are showed in translated forms.

1. Sans font uses WenQuanYi Zen Hei instead of WenQuanYi Micro Hei which should be the first selected font via /etc/fonts/conf.d/69-language-selector-zh-tw.conf . This file is still not available in the folder.

This problem only exist on pre-release i386.iso but not amd64.iso.

The newest amd.iso (20111012) is also affected.

Well, I tested 20111012 for i386.iso and amd64.iso today.

I found out that if you select language at the boot, you will get a partially translated interface which not all translations are loaded. However, if you select nothing and wait for ubuntu enters itself or you use English first to Install, you will get a completely translated interface.

Kind of odd, both iso (i386 and amd64) are affected now. Tested on Virtualbox.

Below are the details to get a partially showed translation or a fully showed translation for ubiquity.

Steps to reproduce a partly showed translation:
1. When Live CD promts "Keyboard = Human", press any key to select language
2. Choose "中文(繁體)"
3. Choose the second option, "安裝 Ubuntu" (Install Ubuntu), and press Enter
4. You see the welcome page, click "繼續" (Continue)
5. You see "has at least 4.4 GB available drive space" is not showed in tranlated form

Steps to reproduce a fully showed translation:
6. Click "返回" (Back) in the preparation page as in 5 to go back to the welcome page
7. Click "繼續" (Continue), and you see "has at least 4.4 GB available drive space" has been showed as "有至少 4.4 GB 的可用空間"

Other ways to reproduce a fully showed translation:
1. When Live CD promts "Keyboard = Human", press any key to select language
2. Use "English" as default
3. Choose "Install Ubuntu", and press Enter
4. You see the welcome page in English, select "中文 (繁體)" then click "繼續" (Continue)
5. You see "有至少 4.4 GB 的可用空間" instead of "has at least 4.4 GB available drive space"

or

1. When Live CD promts "Keyboard = Human", skip it
2. Choose "中文 (繁體)", then click "安裝 Ubuntu" (Install Ubuntu)
3. You see "有至少 4.4 GB 的可用空間" instead of "has at least 4.4 GB available drive space"

After a partly translation showed installation (tested in amd64.iso) , major l10n problems met:

A user reported that these problems can be solved by changing LANG variable into LANG="zh_TW.UTF-8".

As to fully translation showed installation (tested in amd64.iso).

If I choose "中文(繁體)" after Live CD promts "Keyboard = Human", then Click "返回" (Back) in the preparation page in installer or if I use "English" by default, then change the language in installer, the results are:

I have no idea about the package which the content of /etc/default/locale comes from. If someone know that, please help.

I think it is still better to keep this bug in order to make sure all installer-indusing issues be fixed together.
