I'm not familair with the installer at all, but I had a look at /var/log/installer/syslog, maybe this has something to do with it:

Oct 2 20:22:49 ubuntu in-target: A error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. GPG error: http://extras.ubuntu.com maverick Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 16126D3A3E5C1192

Could that KEY be included with the installation ? Because I also get the same error after installation.

This is from a dutch mirror: http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ (very likely ubuntuarchive.bit.nl), I'm do not know if it is the same with all mirrors (I presume the mirror is up to date).
