Experience with people non-familiar with Ubuntu : no one wants to install unless he tested before.
The only case when a beginner could choose to install directly without testing on his own computer is : he tested Ubuntu on another machine, and don't imagine his hardware could not be compatible. If he replaces Windows (for example) by Ubuntu, and after installation he gets a problem (e.g. black screen) because his hardware is not compatible, I would not be surprised he does not want to install Ubuntu twice in his life. This problem is avoided if my proposition is accepted.
So this is not just for simplicity but also for safety of beginners.
