Comment 13 for bug 46046

I'm using a laptop with hardy and had problems with the resolution of an external monitor.

So i ran dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg.

Afterwards, keyboard layout was changed in xorg.conf from "de" to "us".
This had the effect that I could not login under X because my password contained special characters.

I knew how to fix this, but this could be a source of frustration for a newbie.
