I had the same issue -- I don't know if it ever displayed that there were results...
but lately it was just coming up 100% blank (as if the index were empty).
Killing trackerd and restarting it solved the issue. Don't know why it appeared.
I do know that I had installed a 3rd party Thunderbird e-mail indexer a while back, but tracker was still displaying results.
The only contributing factor I can think of is that it's been several weeks since I've shut down/restarted my computer. It's gone through dozens of suspend/hibernate and resume cycles, so maybe something didn't shut down or restart correctly?
