I use ubuntu 7.10, gnome, metacity. IBM T40, Dualhead set up via xrandr:

xrandr --output VGA-0 --newmode "1152x864@75" 108.0 1152 1216 1344 1600 864 865 868 900 +hsync +vsync
xrandr --addmode VGA-0 "1152x864@75"
xrandr --output VGA-0 --right-of LVDS --mode "1152x864@75"

Primary display uses 1024x768.

This report is from some time ago. Can you confirm problem still exists with latest Gutsy updates.
If so can you also please attach /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.
Thanks.

No, it's not fixed, but I can explain you why.

If you use two screen, and open firefox or thunderbird, everything is ok

But, if you open firefox or thunderbird before you connect the second display (as twinview, as far as I'm concerned) then the problem appear.

I don't why, but "print screen" button doesn't work when the menu is open, so I can't make you a print screen.

But my problem is the same than his problem. When I move thunderbird or thunderbird to the right screen, the menu continue to open on the left one.
I speak of menu in the top bar of the program, but also favorites in firefox, or folder in my bar of favorite, and of the menu I can have with right click.

I've got ubuntu 9.4, thunderbird 2.0.0.21(20090409).
I use NVIDIA X Server settings to connect the second screen, and I've got a nVIDIA video card.

Ask me if you need anything else as information.
As far as I'm concerned, I correct this by closing an opening again thunderbird, it's not a great solution, but it works.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

I tried to test.
With the live cd, there wasn't any nvidia-driver, so nvidi-settings didn't works, so I wasn't able to test.
I wanted to install it, since there was a little box the top menu. I tried the recommanded driver, he asked for a password, I leaved it empty and click on the button. It then told me the adress he was searching is 404 not found.
Same problem with the other driver.

So I don't know what I could do to test.

Other problem, when I use two screens, if I use "full-screen" (f11) on firefox, when I try to open a tab, or when there is a little text on a yellow box who appear, the firefox window disapear for something like half-a second. Wich is pretty disturbing.
