Just open you file browser goto a file or folder you would like to share over the network.  Left click goto properties select share tab set the permisions Ubuntu will download the samba service. since you already have it installed all you should need to do is share...  hope this helps

Hello, I would like to know why this is marked as having a "Fix Release"
when I encountered the exact same error today.

I am running Ubuntu Server 12.04

I can do "apt-get install samba", however whenever I enter "samba" or
"samba -v" into terminal, it says I need to install "samba4".  When I
install samba4, I get the "setoption.pl is not executable" error.p
