Bug Description

Sound Applet -"Record Sound From" list does not show any devices to select. There should be a built in Microphone and a line input device as standard on the Acer Aspire 1. If I reinstall and olderversion i.e. 11.10 they are shown. Then reinstall 12.l04 again and the devices are missing again.

I confirm the bug in 12.04 amd64 (sony vaio vgn-ns31s).
In 11.10 amd64 everything worked fine.
In 12.04 I can still record the sound (i.e. with sound recorder) but I cannot control the microphone volume (inactive slider) and so on, so the recordings are very quiet.
The only way I can control my microphone now is alsamixer: terminal - command: alsamixer - it shows card: HDA Intel, chip: Realtek ALC262. All options are available: mic boost, volume.

Same bug 1006864? or bug 998300?

Diferent that bug 946232.

My case:
In my computer, in sound-settings the list sound-card out is empty. If I plug-in a headphones, the list is empty too.
With command alsamixer in terminal the sound cards are:
HDA Intel, Realtek ALC861.
The master volume is 00 not-activate, PCM volume is ok, if I push F6 I can select 0 HDA Intel in list:
- (predeterminado)
0 HDA intel
introduzca el nombre del dispositivo...

If I add to end /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf the line
options snd-hda-intel model=generic
and reboot, then I see in list sound-card speakers and then I can up-down the volume, BUT no sound.

I have 10.04 in other partition and the sound is OK.

My computer is a clonic laptop (april - 2006)
