When I plug in the headphone the internal speakers mute but no sound comes out of the headphone. I can select "analog output" from the sound prefs but it makes no difference. Still no sound.

When I plug in the HDMI nothing happens. The sound continues through the laptop speakers but not through the HDMI.

If I manually select the HDMI from the sound prefs the laptop speakers mute but no sound comes through the HDMI device.

If I plug in a USB headset and select the USB device on the prefs everything works as expected.
