Messó speaks the truth! I've also killed PulseAudio (/usr/bin/pulseaudio -D --log-target=syslog) and sound in all my games works flawlessly, with Alsa or OSS. I've tested so far Team Fortress 2 and Everyday Shooter on Steam.
