This bug breaks apt-cacher in natty - apt is unable to update:

sudo apt-get update
Ign http://localhost natty InRelease
Ign http://localhost natty-updates InRelease
Ign http://localhost natty-security InRelease
Err http://localhost natty Release.gpg
  Connection failed
Err http://localhost natty-updates Release.gpg
  Connection failed
Err http://localhost natty-security Release.gpg

/var/cache/apt-cacher/error.log shows:

Wed Sep 7 18:28:36 2011|info [1272]: return_file /var/cache/apt-cacher/packages/ca.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_Release.gpg aborted by timeout at 0 of bytes

Installing the missing asm directory fixes the problem.
