There's an easy fix for getting OOo menus to show up while the cube is enabled along with all other advanced features.

Just go to System<Preferences<Appearance
Click on the Fonts tab and under Rendering, choose Subpixel Smoothing.

That's it, your menus should show up perfectly. Unfortunately this doesn't fix any problems with aMSN. I'm not sure if it fixes the problems with menus in WINE as I don't have it installed.
