Logging in to ubuntu causes a blank screen.
installed gnome-session-fallback to get to a working desktop (using gnome no-effects).
had to go to compiz settings manager > OpenGL and switch off all options in order to get to a unity desktop.
Unity is now running in software rendering mode, but menu-bar stuff is missing. unity sidebar is transparent (no items).
interface works, but is not properly visible. See attached Screenshot.
