I am having the same problem with a Vodafone Huawei K3565 USB modem in the UK. I can ping www.google.com but I can not connect via Firefox. It does not help when I set the DNS manually using OpenDNS addresses, when I do, it disconnects immediately.
I will be happy to provide more info when requested.
