Hi,

1. forgotten: IP, gateway, mask, DNS and the method (after restarted,
Ubuntu shows again "Automatic (DHCP)". Both of checkboxes are kept.

2. "Interfaces" before (default):

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

    "Interfaces" after:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

iface eth0 inet static
address 10.1.1.102
netmask 255.0.0.0
gateway 10.1.1.1

Auto eth0

Strangely, with this change the connection name also changed from Auto
eth0 to Wired Connection 1. Maybe if the connection name is changed,
Ubuntu save the settings without having to change Interfaces. A fact to
be analyzed.
