I was able to easily reproduce this bug when booting from ubuntu-7.04-desktop-i386 live-cd. Every time after booting form live cd and statically configuring network with NetworkManager applet it didn't work (but only for the first time, after changing back to dhcp and one more time to static everything was fine)
