Bug Description
Binary package hint: network-manager
After changing eth0 configuration from dhcp to static and filling all the forms with ip, netmask and gateway I see "Changing interface configuration" message, but the changes are not applied (ifconfig shows no ip for eth0, resolv.conf is and route shows correct gateway). When I manually invoke:
/etc/init.d/network restart
everything works fine (so NetworkManager write changes into /etc/network/
This problem happens every time after booting form feisty installation live-cd and just after successful installation of feisty and booting into it. I didn't manage to reproduce it after configuring network settings with NetworkManger and manually (by ifconfig, route and resolv.conf) for a couple of times.
I have just made another test on fresh feisty installation form ubuntu- 7.04-desktop- i386 live-cd.
By default my eth0 network interface is set to dhcp. After changing it to static with NetworkManager applet and filling in ip, network and gateway I can see "Changing interface configuration" message, but ifconfig shows no ip for eth0, route shows exactly nothing (no route defined). Only /etc/network/ interfaces file is being updated correctly. If in this situation I change eth0 back to dhcp and one more time to static configuration everything starts to work correctly (ifconfig and route give proper output)
Adding DNS server with NetworkManager creates correct resolv.conf file every time.
