Daniel Gnoutcheff (gnoutchd) wrote : files on network mountpoints unsupported but file picker displays them

To reproduce:
  1) Use nautilus to mount a remote SSH share.
  2) Start Meld
  3) Click "File comparison"
  4) Click one of the file selection buttons [with the text "(None)"].
  5) A file picker dialog opens. Observe that this dialog permits you
to select files on network shares.
  6) Pick some file on the SSH share mounted earlier, and click "Open".

Expected: Meld should either:
  - Support reading files from network shares (like my SSH mountpoint).
*or*
  - Restrict the file picker such that the user can only select files on
the local filesystem (so that step 6 above isn't allowed).

Actual: Meld's file picker allows me to select a file from my SSH
mountpoint and thus implicit promises to handle such files. But when I
click "Open", Meld silently rejects the file and continues to
show "(None)" in the file selection button.
