Does this problem occur when running with official ubuntu kernels? We do have a number of mouse/touchpad fixes in our tree.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue.

However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all. Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request further testing. This is such a request.

We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still exists or not.

If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to Fix Released.

If you want this bot to quit automatically requesting kernel tests, add a tag named: kernel-bot-stop-nagging.

Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . If possible, please test the latest v3.2-rcN kernel[1] (Not a kernel in the daily directory). Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag(Only that one tag, please leave the others). This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

If this bug is fixed by the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream-KERNEL-VERSION'. For example, if kernel version 3.2-rc1 fixed and issue, the tag would be: 'kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.2-rc1'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Thanks in advance.

Lars Noodén, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so could you please test the latest upstream kernel available? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please do not test the kernel in the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. As well, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream', and comment as to why specifically you were unable to test it.

Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance.

Lars Noodén, I refocused this bug down to one of your two trackpad problems as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/BestPractices#X.2BAC8-Reporting.Focus_on_One_Issue . While a fix for one could fix the other, we would want to treat the two issues of single clicks are treated as doubles most of the time, and how click-and-drag does not work seperate for now.

Also, while booted into the Ubuntu repo kernel, could you please execute the following at a terminal:
apport-collect 881830

As well, could you please provide the information following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection#In_case_at_least_one_of_Touchpad_features_works_but_does_not_work_correctly_and_as_expected ?

Thank you for your understanding.

Lars Noodén, getting back to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/881830/comments/87 , the bisect documentation has been updated to advise switching to bisecting the mainline kernel instead. Hence, could please resume your bisect via https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?

With the 3.11.0-4-generic #9-Ubuntu SMP kernel that is part of Saucy, the errant mouse clicks are less of a problem. They seem not to be present any more when just using the trackpad, but still a problem when typing. Is a bisection still needed? If so between which kernels?
