I'm a photographer and would really like this to work! I can't be cranking-up windows every time I need to transfer photos.

I have tried this in both 32- and 64-bit Natty. Not working.

Is there anything I can do/provide to help this get fixed?

Hi

I have the same g470 device and many issues

I tested the sdcard on debian using linux-kernel 3 and same issue :

Linux version 3.0.0-1-amd64 (Debian 3.0.0-3) (<email address hidden>) (gcc version 4.5.3 (Debian 4.5.3-8) ) #1 SMP Sat Aug 27 16:21:11 UTC 2011

I fear this is related to BIOS

feel free to contact me online

This device is claimed by the 'rts5139' driver, included in Oneiric's current kernel (upstream has queued it up for the 3.2 release).

Lumeng Lim, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

I forgot to confirm that it was fixed (a long time ago) by a kernel update.

I'm really grateful for the fix; it makes my life a lot easier!
