Bug Description
My laptop (Dell inspiron 1420) requires the acpiphp module to be loaded for the expresscard slot to operate properly. While I can add the module manually to /etc/modules to have it loaded, the kernel really should autoload the module, at least on laptops (or make it builtin)

I ran into this problem while testing dynamic disk addition with libvirt and kvm. The guest was running precise, originally installed from the Ubuntu 11.10 alternate CD image.
It looks like the UEC images work around this problem locally (bug 450463) by updating /etc/modules during the image build process, but it seems like this fix belongs upstream, ideally for all currently supported releases.
