I noticed that rt2800usb actually occasionally works on Natty with rt2870sta blacklisted. I did need to remove an reinsert the usb DWL-G122 rev.E USB stick a few times to get the net actually up, and the connection seems less stable than with rt2870sta. Output of Wolfgang's commands:
I did not notice any particular differences to the normal 1.52 firmware. It still takes a few tryings to get the net up, ssh is laggy and network radio streaming keeps breaking. Some random ping statistics with iwconfig wlan1 power on
(something near 4 ms seems typical for power on and a bit over 1 ms for power off, when pings are stable for a moment).
I also quickly tried the 32bit Oneiric live image. I didn't need to remove the usb stick to get the net up, but I think ping gave about the same results as with Natty, although I'm afraid I didn't take note of them anywhere.
I did some testing today. Sorry for the delay.
