Alex, Dave, sorry forgot to tailor the "Stock reply": Some of the required information has been provided, some is still needed.
Also, Alex, does your machine support ACPI? Try booting with acpi=off and seeing if that helps (it should default to APM). I suggest this because of ACPI errors in the dmesg output.
Dave, there are a number of suspend reports on asus machines (e.g., bug #76503, bug #71839, bug #63435) that may be closer to your issue, since you and Alex are running very different hardware - you might want to track one or more of those instead.
