@notoriousdbp yeah, I'm sure it's that, too. The new (OS) drivers are amazing, performance-wise, but I'm sure they're not scaling the frequency of the GPU according to need. I tried to install rovclock - an app. to under/over clock radeon cards - but that's broken, too! (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rovclock/+bug/493220).
