sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
change the line:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
to:
#GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nomodeset"
save and close gedit update grub:
sudo update-grub
