I have Toshiba A205-4567S and I can report the same problem not only on Karmic kernel but Lucid too. I even tried to run live Knoppix with kernel 2.6.32-17 but it freezed at the time the desktop started to load. On Hardy no problems at all. For sure this is a kernel bug but I am not very competent how to send a report to the proper developers.
