rmmod ath5k && rmmod eeepc_laptop turns the WiFi LED off.

Add the following lines to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf to make it stick::

blacklist ath5k

blacklist eeepc_laptop

Hopefully this actually disables the wifi, since leaving the radio on is a potential security and privacy issue.
