also in my case the problem shows both with AC plug in and without.

moreover, now the problem is happening always (whenever I reboot or shut down), while previoulsy it didn't happen every time.

the only change I can point at, is having enabled pulseaudio for the whole system, and the pulseaudio applet.

i seem to rememeber that I've also seen a problem in killing alsa (a bad command to alsamixer) during a failed shutdown
