Bug Description
I am using an Edirol/Cakewalk UA25 USB soundcard with my Windows partition, which works.
I have also used the UA25 with Ubuntu 7.10, which worked.
I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04 and the audio does not immediately work through this soundcard as it did with 7.10
I then did a fresh install of 8.04 rather than an upgrade and it did not solve the problem
The command "speaker-test -c2 -D plughw:UA25 -twav"
returns the result "Playback device is plughw:UA25
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
WAV file(s)
ALSA lib pcm_hw.
Playback open error: -19,No such device", repeatedly.
I have read bug report 111635 but although the problem is similar in my case Ubuntu does not appear to have recognised the sound card at all.
I've also seen a few related problems on the forums but I haven't found any answers that have worked in this case.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/Bugs/ FindRightPackag e. I have classified this bug as a bug in linux.
