Hi,

I have more or less the same problem. The system hangs if a connection is lost in an unpredictible way. This I found out when I had to unplug my wifi-modem/router.
My modem is a linksys WAG325N

Since this hangs my system and I have to do a hard reset dmesg doesn't show anything of value.

I don't know how to correctly perform a bisection so I won't be much help aside from being able to conclude this isn't system or router specific.
