This bug has been there since 8.04 and still exists with 9.04 beta now. Apparently its limited to ASUS Laptops.

Related bugS to being unable to restart:
1) Restart either hangs on the Xubuntu Progress Screen or shows a gray screen with randomly appearing black and white vertical and horizontal lines.
2) Creating terminal sessions/screens is impossible. Ctrl+F1 and the rest gives a gray screen with randomly appearing black and white vertical and horizontal lines.

Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 7000M
OS: Jaunty 9.04 Beta/Windows XP dual boot
Linux Kernel Version: 2.6.28-11-generic
