Okay, I understand that I need to change the bug status to "Confirmed." But I'm still not clear how. The problem appeared after I installed the latest kernel upgrade, not a specific package.

Sorry if I'm being particularly obtuse about this, but I'm still not entirely sure how to give you the information you need.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwiki.ubuntu.com%2FBugs%2FFindRightPackage&data=04%7C01%7Cjiw2%40psu.edu%7Cc0ac17f857b447b31d8e08d8d903bca4%7C7cf48d453ddb4389a9c1c115526eb52e%7C0%7C1%7C637497957368206382%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=LIcp3%2BiodVzbd5CoDO8s6OdaoyYm3Rye4xH2jGyQw9M%3D&reserved=0.

Title:
After 5.4.0-66 kernel upgrade, HP Spectre screen flickers

Status in Ubuntu:

Bug description:

 OS: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS

After installing the latest Ubuntu kernel update, the screen of my HP
Spectre laptop began flickering into distorted illegibility at
frequent -- but unpredictable -- intervals. The machine is unusable
when this occurs. Additionally, GIMP has begun crashing
 unpredictably.

I have rebooted many times. I have changed the display drivers
(currently using the X.org driver). None of this has affected the
 problem.

I have searched online for possible fixes, and found nothing useful.
HP's "support" is useless, since they only deal with Windows.
StackExchange referred me to this site.

I hope I have reported correctly. Thank you.
