Thanks a lot for your time & effort

1) the issue only happend in my dell xps 13 machine. ok, I'll just stick to ubuntu versions (I don't have any installed, but I can try with live-cd, or I can install one to a different partition if that helps

2) downloading https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/thank-you?version=18.04.2&architecture=amd64 right now

The problem is not related to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics so please don't use that in the data collection.

Your Xorg logs show you are using the default libinput driver instead.

what shall I run in the livece instead of `apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1816947` to help you gather the data?
