I have the same problem with alpha6 (Ubuntu and kubuntu). After launching the liveCD, I enter the busybox.
In qemu, I notice the following unusual (for me) message before boot:
[ 0.000000] ACPI: no DMI BIOS year, acpi=force is required to enable ACPI [ 14.464065] PCI : PIIX3: Enabling Passive Release on 0000:00:01.0 Loading, please wait...
and then, after a little time of usual boot, it goes to the BusyBox, as described before.

Here is the description of another attempt I did.
* Install K-Gutsy from live-CD * apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade * reboot * kdesu 'adept_manager --dist-upgrade-devel' (following http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/installer_une_version_instable) * reboot
=> BusyBox During the boot (and inside the busybox), the tty1 continuously says
exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr x0x action 0x2 frozen cmd 00/00:00:00:24:00/00:00:00:00:00/a0 tag 0 pio 36 in status: {DRDY}
After a while, it said me ata2 WARNING: synchronous SCSI scan failed without making any progress
and then it continued "exception Emask 0x0 ..."
Attached : lspci --vvnn
Hope it helps, have a nice WE Laurent
