I had the same issue as described above. Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS updated from 4.4.0.104 to 4.4.0.108, boot fails. No video display. Reboot again with 4.4.0.104 works.

Processor: 4x Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz
