I am in the same hardware situation as "axel" except I also have a working 7.10 setup in IDE mode with very important data on the 2nd drive (a Perforce depot). I am not sure but won't the RAID mode wipe the 2nd HDD with a mirror of the 1st?

Other newbie question: how can we check if this bug has been properly filed?
