On another attempt, I got his message:

Load debconf preconfiguration file

Failed to retrieve the preconfiguration file

The file needed for preconfiguration could not be retrieved from
file:///cdrom/preseed/ubuntu-server-auto.seed. The installation will proceed in non-automated mode.
