There is no more information than what I can add here. I installed Ubuntu ver. 12.04LTS (Precise Pangolin) about a week ago (1-August-2013). I used the BTRFS file system. On first re-boot after installation, I was offered 3 choices:

(S)kip -- (I)gnore -- (M)ount Manually.

Selecting skip hung the boot and the OS never loaded.

Selecting the IGNORE for both / and /home (those word or characters do appear on-screen) loads the OS and I have a working computer. Since this problem is at boot time, I believe that the Launchpad Reporting tool-mechanism isn't able to report as it's not loaded.

I am in the habit of closing all the open files, directory folders and applications (e.g., Firefox), before I issue the shutdown command. When the shutdown is issued, the OS seems to unwind itself very quickly - a few seconds only - but the power does not shut down. I have to press the power button a few seconds and the computer is then turned off. I have been doing this about 8 days or so and have not seen another problem. I backup daily.

If you have questions post them to me. I can try to find the kernel.log or whatever, but I don't know where to look or how much to post without your help.
