Sorry Christopher,

About 5 months ago I lost my hard drive on my laptop due to a power supply
issue, it was fixed recently but I have not installed another Linux on my
laptop as of yet...

Thank you very much for thinking of me and my issue with Ubuntu and
forwarding this possible bug fix!! Perhaps in the near future I will try
Linux again :)

Sincerely,

Michael Lynch

Michael Lynch, a Precise and Quantal test kernel has been built with
commit b7e38304 applied. The test kernels are available from:

Precise: http://people.canonical.com/~jsalisbury/lp1048631/precise/
Quantal: http://people.canonical.com/~jsalisbury/lp1048631/quantal/

Can you test those kernels and post back if they resolve this bug?

Thanks in advance!

Unable to Shutdown at dialog or terminal - only restarts

Bug description:
  Toshiba Satellite L775D - S7108

  Description: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
  Release: 12.04
  Installed Alongside Windows 7 OS
Installed as seperate partition on same hard disc drive

I expect the system to power off when using the shutdown commands and
  GUI (WM_CLASS(STRING) = "gtk-logout-helper", "Gtk-logout-helper")

Using the shutdown commands in terminal and dialog interfaces only cause
my laptop to restart
The only way so far I have found that I can shut down my laptop is to
press and hold the power button during reboot (Unsafe) or load other OS to
do the restart.

WORKAROUND: My laptop shuts down properly when my AC adapter is NOT
plugged in and running on battery power only.
